Minecraft is a game all about your imagination. If there is something you can imagine, you can create it. The internet is full of people creating everything from small huts, to big cities, to even entire universes. However, for many making a Minecraft Roller Coaster would be a highlight. Here is all you need to know about building one and some hacks.
Why a Minecraft roller coaster?
There are plenty of reasons why you would want to build a Minecraft roller coaster. Firstly, they are possible to make. That is reason enough for the creative players of Minecraft. The game gives you all the tools and materials to make a roller coaster, so why not try it? Secondly, it is just plain fun to ride around on a roller coaster.
Lastly, a Minecraft roller coaster allows you to travel quickly across the map, assuming you laid the rails beforehand. So, if there are a few points on the map you find yourself returning to, make a roller coaster to connect them. Traveling would be fast, fun, and you won’t face hostile mobs.
With that said, let’s start with the building process
Choose a cool location to build a Minecraft roller coaster
First, you must survey a good location to build your roller coaster. Choose a hilly area that has steep falls and sharp rises. If there are waterfalls, then that’s great. This will make the ride all the more fun.
Gather the materials Required
As with all things in Minecraft, you will need to mine and collect materials to build the roller coaster. Regardless of how you want your roller coaster built, you will need wood, iron ore, Redstone, and gold ore. You can also collect any stone you find.
While wood can be found anywhere on the surface, iron ore is found underground. You will need to smelt iron into ingots. Redstone is found deep underground and looks like a stone block with red spots. You will find Redstone dust from there. Lastly, gold is also found underground, and you must smelt it to get gold ingots. Be sure to use iron or diamond pickaxes to gather these items.
Craft the objects to build the Minecraft roller coaster
Now you will need to start crafting. You will need a crafting table, wooden planks, sticks, buttons, rails, stone pressure plates, detector rails, powered rails, a Minecart, and a fence to add safety to your roller coaster track.
You can craft all of these with the resources we mentioned above. You can make the table, plans, sticks, and buttons from wood. From iron and wood, you can craft rails. Redstone is useful for detectors and powered rails. A Minecart can be made out of iron.
Create the track of your dreams
Now that you have the materials get crafting. You can lay down the rails on the track you surveyed. Let your creativity run wild. Place down loop-de-loops, steep falls, and rises. You will need Redstone to add power to the rail lines. You can even go underground as well.
Build the loading station
This would be where your roller coaster journey starts. Build an elevated platform and cover it with a roof. Have an easy way to embark and disembark. You will need to use the button to activate the Minecraft roller coaster here, as well as the powered rails. You will need Redstone dust to connect them all.
Test it out!
You’re good to go unless you want to add further decorations or safety features, such as a fence. Climb aboard the Minecraft roller coaster and fly away. If it doesn’t work as intended, remember you can always tweak and adjust it anytime.
